The Dark Side of Cosplay – Otakus & Geeks Podcast

I sat down with Otakus and Geeks Podcast to discuss the dark side of cosplay with a few other cosplayers. This is a topic I’ve been wanting to cover for a while. We discussed what really goes on behind the scenes of cosplay, from bullying and harassment to gatekeeping. We wanted to cover topics that people are afraid to speak up about. With the growing mainstream popularity of the hobby we want people to be aware of what goes on besides the pretty pictures and what can we do as a community to change things? *ANYONE CAN COSPLAY ANY CHARACTER!* Watch to hear us discuss some of the following topics:… Read More

Cosplay Alliance Magazine Black History Edition

I was fortunate to be featured in this year’s Cosplay Alliance Magazine Black History issue.  I was really honored to be asked to be included in this issue with such amazing black cosplayers.  Many of which i’m happy to call friend.  Everyone absolutely looked amazing and it was great to celebrate Black History Month in this way.  I was fortunate to be featured in last year’s Black History Cosplay Alliance Issue as a photographer and it was awesome to be included as a cosplayer this year.  Check out the magazine to find out why I cosplay , why representation is important to me and what my favorite cosplays are. Shots by Shinobi Cosplay Spotlight: Little Wolff and JPR Cosplay

This is Shots by Shinobi’s Cosplay Spotlight: Valentine’s Day edition.  I first met John in 2017 at MCM Comic Con London with no shirt on and it has always been a pleasure seeing and getting to know him since then.  He has fallen in love with another cosplayer who is also amazing since then.  They are couples goals to the infinity and deserve to be the Valentine’s Cosplay spotlight.  When I met John he was cosplaying the Joker with no shirt on and covered in tattoos.  He was quite pasty…or was it tasty.  It is worth mentioning that John is one of my main inspirations when it comes to the… Read More

Farewell to the U.K.

I never thought I would be writing this blog post but here goes nothing.  As most of you know I am leaving the UK and relocating to Asia.  There are not enough words to express how much I have enjoyed living in the UK.  In large part it was due to you wonderful people.  Although I am excited about my new opportunity, there is a large part of me that is very sad to be leaving such an amazing group of friends.  I can’t put into words how much I value all of the relationships that I have made over the past 3 and a half years. You made me… Read More

The Best of Dragon Con 2019

Another year another Dragon Con is in the books.  Dragon Con is still my favorite Con of any I have been to.  It also helps that it is a homecoming for me since I am from Atlanta and it was the 1st Con I ever went to on my mother’s advice I might add.  The weather was perfect everyday of the Con.  Dragon Con is a Con for cosplayers and nerds alike.  It is the best cosplay party hands down.  It is a non-stop party comparable to Vegas!  I challenge you to go and in the words of Sergeant Lincoln Osiris, “Survive!”  The first night myself and @swaggycosplayer brought a party… Read More

28 Days of Black Cosplay

Here we are and in the shortest month of the year which of course is also Black History Month.  With that there have been many campaigns of people posting cosplayers of color with the hashtag #28daysofblackcosplay.  It is awesome that people have decided to celebrate black cosplayers for the month of February and I have done just that also.  Even though comics and such are dominated by white characters the number of color characters are trending upward.  More and more black cosplayers have joined in the fun in sharing their love for comics, video games, film and waving their nerd flags. It is time to appreciate these people of color that go to conventions and… Read More
