Dragon Con is back! It has been three years since Ugo and I attended Dragon Con. Before the pandemic Dragon Con 2020 was my most anticipated convention. I was becoming the fittest I’ve ever been for it. Atlanta is home for me as I was born and raised there but I hadn’t been home since 2020 so I was anxious about it. Dragon Con was the first con I went to and was my introduction to what cosplay was. It quickly became my favorite convention to attend and still holds the top spot to this day.
I was actually invited to represent Dragon Con this year on a Fox 5 news segment which was an honor. Being this is my hometown my family could see me live on the news in my natural comic con habitat dressed as a superhero, Green Lantern. My mother texted me I saw you on the news multiple times as well as a friend from high school.

Dragon started with a bang from the very beginning and my friends and I picked up from where we left off in 2019. Hosting pop up parties at the Marriott in the evening has become a trend that cosplayers have come to depend on. Everyone likes to dance to the music of DJ Swaggy while the crew is partying with all the cosplayers. I try to choose a local Atlanta artist to cosplay one night of con. This year I chose Fabo from D4L and although everyone didn’t recognize it as it was from 2005 ish, I brought all the energy that he does in every performance. DJ Swaggy hit me with the classic Laffy Taffy to get me going.

We even did a very special Spongebob group, The International Justice League of Super Acquaintances. This was cosplay group we planned to do in 2020 and it was so satisfying to finally get it done. We had so much fun with this cosplay group as we are truly friends so all the energy was there and the positive energy from everyone else that saw the group was amazing. Don’t worry we will be doing more groups in the future. We are actually planning an awesome one right now.

Ugo had an idea to recreate a fight scene from the Arcane series on Netflix and of course I was ready to record it. It was pretty amazing to record such a dynamic scene. I love recreating scenes in cosplay. It has become one of my favorite things to do.
I finally got to live out my team Green Lantern dreams with my lantern squad. I almost didn’t make our group shoot as it was at the end of the last day of Dragon Con and I didn’t want to suit up again. I am glad I did.

Ugo and Dom had a great idea to bring Sherlock Holmes and Watson to Dragon Con and it was a big hit. Here is one of the scenes they shot.

I had a few issues as I didn’t have a couple of the cosplays I planned to bring. This meant I was unable to attend the Boys photoshoot on Friday.

The best part of Dragon Con was catching up with old friends and making new friends. Meeting people you have been following and exchanging messages with for years now. The people are what makes any con special to me and this one was no different. My heart is full. It was a real homecoming and I can’t wait to do it all again next year.
