Memorial Day Weekend was nothing short of electric as MomoCon 2025 made its triumphant return to the Georgia World Congress Center, welcoming over 59,000 unique attendees and shattering previous attendance records with a total of 157,000+ visitors across all four days. This year’s event brought together an unforgettable mix of anime, comics, games, cosplay, and creativity—and Cutting Edge Animation was proud to be right at the heart of it all.
As both a vendor and invited guest, Cutting Edge Animation made a powerful impression, returning for our second consecutive year. Last year, we roamed the halls, showing our teaser for Captain Zero: Into the Abyss Part II to unsuspecting attendees and soaking up their raw reactions. This year, we came full circle—with the film completed and ready to meet its audience.
Exclusive Screening & Q&A with the Cast and Crew
One of the weekend’s highlights was our exclusive screening of the first-ever footage from Captain Zero: Into the Abyss Part II, starring the legendary Keith David. Fans got a rare glimpse at the short film ahead of its world premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Festival. The screening was followed by a heartfelt Q&A session, where we dove into the creative process, production hurdles, and one of the film’s most powerful themes: mental health.
Captain Zero: Into the Abyss Part II doesn’t just bring the superhero spectacle—it explores the emotional weight of isolation, anxiety, and the resilience of the human mind. We were deeply moved by the audience’s engagement and thoughtful questions, reaffirming the importance of weaving meaningful, real-world issues into animated storytelling.
Connecting with Fans
At our booth, we connected with long-time followers and curious newcomers alike. Fans picked up limited edition posters and stickers featuring key art from Captain Zero, many of which sold out before the weekend wrapped. It was an amazing opportunity to engage face-to-face with those who have supported our work—and to introduce our universe to a whole new crowd of animation lovers.
We also sat down for an interview with MomoCon press, where we talked about our journey from last year’s teaser reactions to this year’s screening, what’s next for the Captain Zero universe, and how MomoCon continues to be one of the most welcoming, enthusiastic spaces for independent animation studios.
