Want to make your run really count? Pick a charity that you believe in, join a team, and make a difference in someone’s life at your next race. I ran over 900 miles over a year and a half. After I realized that companies would contribute money to charities of your choice for the miles you ran I signed up immediately with the phone app Charity Miles. Charity Miles allows you to earn money for the charity of your choice while you walk, run or bike. There are many charities to choose from in the app and who wouldn’t want to contribute to a charity especially if you are already going to run. The app using a GPS to calculate how many miles you have run. If you don’t run you can also walk with the app and throughout the day as you walk keep the app running. Your walking and running can go a long way to help improve the life of someone. Do you have a family member with cancer or would like to help the homeless or children? This is one way of doing this. Why not let others benefit also from your runs? Some other charities involved include Habitat for Humanity, Wounded Warriors Project and Every Mother Counts.
Bikers earn up to 10¢ per mile; walkers and runners earn up to 25¢ per mile, all courtesy of corporate sponsors.
Children’s Tumor Foundation NF Endurance Team
What will YOU make possible? It is a question we can all ask ourselves. I’m taking on a challenge with the Children’s Tumor Foundation and making it possible to end neurofibromatosis (NF) through research by raising money with my next marathon in October. Please contribute by donating what you can. A dollar goes a long way!
NF causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body and can lead to blindness, bone abnormalities, cancer, deafness, disfigurement, learning disabilities, and excruciating and disabling pain. NF is under-recognized and underdiagnosed yet affects more people than cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and Huntington’s disease combined. The Children’s Tumor Foundation funds critical research to find treatments for NF. In addition to benefitting those who live with neurofibromatosis, this research is shedding new light on several forms of cancer, brain tumors, bone abnormalities, and learning disabilities, ultimately benefiting the broader community.
I signed up for a marathon with the Children’s Tumor Foundation’s NF Endurance Team. I know you might think that running 26 miles is crazy, but making a difference in the lives of families that live with neurofibromatosis each day will be life changing. Running for the Children’s Tumor Foundation, you help fund research and provide information, programs, and services for the millions worldwide who are diagnosed with neurofibromatosis.
Thank you very much for your support.
