2020 was the year of racial reckoning and the cosplay community is filled with racism from blackfacing to Black cosplayers receiving tons of racists comments on their cosplays. A friend of mine decided to collaborate with Cosplay Alliance Magazine to address this with the Black History Month issue of the magazine. We were given total control of the entire magazine and were able to be fully unapologetic in the content. We featured a lot of Black cosplayers and I was able to interview many of them. I also wrote 4 articles in the magazine focused on different issues in entertainment and cosplay.
I was fortunate to be featured in last year’s Black History Cosplay Alliance Issue as a cosplayer and it was awesome to be a part of crafting this year’s issue. Check out the magazine to support the movement.
