Those are the messages sent to a Chi Phi group chat with 57 members at Cornell while, a 20-year-old woman was upstairs being drugged and raped for several hours.

Cornell 7? No, Cornell RAPISTS.

Are we surprised? Look who y’all voted into office. You already told us you’re okay with this.

Jane Doe stated two members drugged her and seven sexually assaulted her on October 19, 2024. They are named in the lawsuit:

Matthew Ingalls
Johnathan Newell
Winston Lee
Gillio Lopes
Diego Sarabia
Scott Norris
Scott Kretzschmar

She reported it. She sat through Cornell’s process, hearing after hearing. Not one criminal charge.  It took a lawsuit and national outrage, but Tompkins County DA has reopened the case and plans to take it to a grand jury. Governor Hochul is calling for an independent review of how Cornell handled it. That happened because people refused to be quiet.

And y’all still ask why women don’t come forward. Why they wait years? This is why.

Remember Brock Turner? His father called him sexually assaulting an unconscious woman “20 minutes of action.” He served only three months, and he was caught in the act by two people.

Please learn Kendall Francis’s name too. LSU’s own Title IX investigation found a football player responsible for sexual assault and forcible rape against her. His punishment was reduced to disciplinary probation. Kendall deserved better from LSU. She still deserves accountability.

The blame doesn’t stop at seven. It’s on Cornell. It’s on a justice system that didn’t bother to dig. And it’s on every man in that group chat who read those messages and said nothing. Silence is complicity.

Notice who’s quiet? The same folks who wanted to “protect” girls in sports and women in bathrooms. Where y’all at now?

Straight men, we are the problem.

Respect to Cereese Qusba and The Cornell Daily Sun for refusing to let this die. Student journalists, unpaid and independent. Journalism matters.
